Layer by layer, light finds its way through. 💚 🖼️

At District Gallery, we’re proud to present works by Columbus-based artist Marc Ross. Each piece begins in density—built slowly through acrylic and colored pencil—until the surface holds a rich, physical presence. Through his layering process- Ross transforms that compression into atmosphere, revealing a luminous depth that seems to glow from within his artworks. 💫💚

This green work, titled, Climate of the Mind, is all about that quiet luminosity—where structure softens, and color and light become the subject. Ross’ process pulls the viewer into layers of color, as they look for the source of the inner light. 💫🖼️

Stop in to experience it in person, or explore the details and virtual placement in our post. Happy Spring! 🌿💚💫🖼️

With yesterday’s successful launch of Artemis II, the four-person crew will go on a 685,000-mile, 10-day journey around the moon, also known as a lunar fly-by. 🚀💫🌕

It has been 50+ years since the last time humans were on the moon, which was when Apollo 17 left in December 1972. Artist Russell Young’s @bankrobbercalifornia, MAN ON MOON, 2024, screen print recaptures that moment of lunar footprints. 💫🌕🚀🖼️

The timeline for the next manned moon landing is set for 2028. This mission is part of NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to return humans to the lunar surface. @nasaartemis @nasa

Here are the key milestones leading up to the 2028 landing:

Upcoming Missions
🚀Artemis II (April 2026): This will be the first crewed test flight, sending astronauts around the Moon but not landing
.
🧑‍🚀Artemis III (Late 2026): This mission will involve the first crewed lunar landing, paving the way for future exploration
.
🌕🧑‍🚀Artemis IV (2028): Planned to dock with the Lunar Gateway and support lunar exploration 🌕💫🚀
.
Goals of the Artemis Program
Establish a sustainable human presence on the Moon.
Prepare for future missions to Mars and beyond 🪐

This timeline reflects NASA’s commitment to returning humans to the Moon and advancing space exploration efforts.

DISTRICT GALLERY presents a powerful convergence of art, music, and culture in collaboration with The Cleveland Orchestra @cleveorch and Xhibition @xhibition_ .

🖼️🖼️🖼️

Hosted in connection with performances at Severance Music Center, this exhibition explores resilience, transformation, and the radical act of love through Flowers’ deeply personal and expressive work. 🙏🏼🖼️💫

In collaboration with Xhibition @xhibition_ , the exhibition will also feature an exclusive fashion merchandise release—bridging contemporary art and streetwear culture in a way that embodies the spirit of the festival. 💫🧢

The 2026 Mandel Opera & Humanities Festival @cleveorch will be curated by Grammy-winning composer Terence Blanchard, @terence_blanchard alongside renowned social justice advocate Bryan Stevenson, this year’s festival centers on the theme of courage.

🗣“The works in this special exhibition explore courage as a visual language for unconditional love. When courage leads, empathy deepens, giving rise to a sense of closeness that invites viewers to move beyond fear and toward a more generous, compassionate way of being.”
-Halim Flowers

🗣 “The 2026 Mandel Opera & Humanities Festival is about courage, the courage to speak your mind, the courage to be able to listen and truly hear, the courage to allow all of us to have a voice and come together as a community should. I’m excited to be this year’s Festival Curator because it’s going to give us an opportunity to use various musical experiences to find the commonality of who we are as human beings, who we need to be moving forward, and how we can remind ourselves of our own humanity.”
— Terence Blanchard
