🌋 Art made from volcanic rock? Yes, really! 🖼️🌋 We are so excited to welcome Bob Landström to District Gallery! Bob is an Atlanta-based contemporary artist whose colorful, textured paintings are made using crushed volcanic rock rather than traditional paint. It is such a fascinating process, and the results are even more beautiful in person. In a recent interview with FAULT Magazine, Bob shared what first inspired him to work with this unusual material: “Why not paint with Earth itself?” — Bob Landström He colors the crushed volcanic stone with pigments and works it onto canvas using trowels, knives, and even tools he invents himself. His paintings combine playful imagery, handwritten words, mathematical symbols, and references to science and spirituality. There’s always something new to discover when you look a little closer! 💫🪨🖼️ We especially love how Bob takes something so raw and ancient from the Earth and transforms it into art that feels fresh, colorful, and full of curiosity. We’re delighted to introduce his works to the gallery: Yimello, Birth, Ethosien, and Plumb Ocular. Come see them in person!
