Kasumi is an internationally recognized experimental artist whose work blurs the boundaries between film, media, sound and immersive experience. Her practice is rooted in the exploration of memory and the echo chambers that shape how we construct meaning and consciousness, using elemental symbols, gestures and found imagery to reveal hidden narratives and shared cultural patterns. A 2011 Guggenheim Fellow, her films and media pieces have screened and been commissioned worldwide—from the Lincoln Center with The New York Philharmonic to collaborations with Grandmaster Flash and DJ Spooky—and her innovative work has been presented at venues such as The Cleveland Museum of Art, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, Curated Storefront in Akron and Carnegie Hall. In addition to filmmaking, Kasumi creates immersive installations, prints, electronic media, apps, and live performances, challenging the conventions of perception and storytelling through a truly interdisciplinary vision.
