Jeffry Chiplis was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University. The artist currently lives in Cleveland, Ohio where he has lived more than half his life.

Jeffry been making sculpture from recycled argon and neon gas for more than two decades and has been featured in Art in America magazine. He has shown his work in New York City, at the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Krasl Art Center, and the Butler Museum of American Art. The artist also did a residency at Mikulov in the Czech Republic. The neon sculptures are in collection around the country.

He recently participated in the Delectricy Festival in Detroit Michigan where he wrote “repoetry” on the side of the N’namdi Contemporary Art Center.
